Investors could not care less if the infrastructure is powered by GPUs or ASICs. They are looking for cheap, stable service with members commited to the coin. People who aren't coin hoppers like GPU miners.
As we see, coins are manipulated by liberal-anarchist devs and lobbying minorities -> basically a kindergarten.
Being open-source does not mean anything. Just beacause I have the schematics of an ATM I will still have no power over it. Illusion of control.

"…But We Are Committing to Funding an ASIC-Resistant Path" (https://z.cash.foundation/blog/statement-on-asics/) So it looks like if Bitmain wants asics for all algos they will have to release smaller less powerful units to consumers. By the way, I do not believe for a second that Bitmain isn't already running their own farms for most algos making huge profits with maybe even more powerful machines than what they release. Otherwise I think you will end up with one group of coins for asics and one for gpus.
also, look at the minimum per miner in the bitmain z9 page. "we have set a limit of 50 miner per user." So the difficulty is going to hit hard and make any calculation made now completely useless.
